Movemoor

Virtual strength & Balance classes for the elderly and vulnerable

Wellmoor obtained funding from the South West Academic Health Science Network (SWAHSN) to run virtual strength and balance classes for elderly and vulnerable local residents. In partnership with Moretonhampstead Health Centre, these classes involved predominantly chair based, and were communicated virtually to participants via devices sent to them at home.

The sessions were delivered by Clare Parker from All Dancing, a highly experienced practitioner and qualified postural stability instructor. The sessions will include a range of dance styles and gentle movement activities to build confidence in an enjoyable and fun way. There was opportunities to socialise (virtually) with others in the group.

Clare says, ‘Dance is a wonderful way to keep fit. It’s a whole body and mind work out, that can help to keep us active and enjoying our lives no matter what age we are. Movemoor is about people at home enjoying moving in ways that are appropriate and safe for them, and in connection with others, both in their own household and online’.
