Nourishing Dartmoor

We understand that concerns about food insecurity and access to healthy, affordable food affects many people.

That’s why we have a two-year plan to partner with the charity Knead to Connect to deliver a service focused on supporting fair access to healthy food for everyone. As part of this, we’ll be looking to:

  1. Transform the Moretonhampstead Parish Hall kitchen to become a Community Kitchen

  2. Use the Parish Hall as a base for a new Food Hub, which will be one of five food hubs working collaboratively across Devon

  3. Set up nutritious breakfast clubs at Moretonhampstead Primary School, as well as wider rural primary schools

  4. Develop a new family space at Wellmoor’s Community Allotment, led by youth groups in the area

  5. Support Knead to Connect in enhancing their Affordable Food Club offer, engage with more people and encourage healthy eating

This is a big and ambitious project, but we know it’s worthwhile.

If you’d like to support this initiative, the Parish Hall is currently running a Crowdfunder to raise funds for revamping their kitchen. This will cover the costs of new white goods, work surfaces, boilers, ovens, and more.

The revamped space will open up exciting opportunities, including cooking clubs, classes, and catering for events. It will also serve everyone who uses the Parish Hall, whether you’re a local business, a community group, or an individual.

Any donations are appreciated, big or small. If you’d like to donate, please follow this link: https://crowdfunder.co.uk/p/moretonhampstead-parish-hall-kitchen
