Below is a list of organisations which promote wellbeing, connection, and mental health support, both locally and nationally.

We’ve divided these into categories which might be affecting your mental health, so you can find specialist support for your needs by simply clicking on the below buttons,

  • Devon First Response Service

    The First Response Service is operated by Devon Partnership NHS Trust and offers immediate support for individuals experiencing mental health crises, including anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or other urgent emotional distress. It is available all year round, 24 hours a day, for adults living in Devon (excluding Plymouth) and is accessible to anyone aged 18 and above.

  • Samaritans

    Samaritans are open 24/7 for anyone who needs to talk. You can visit some Samaritans branches in person. Samaritans also have a Welsh Language Line on 0808 164 0123 (7pm–11pm every day).

  • National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK

    Helpline offering a supportive listening service to anyone with thoughts of suicide. Open overnight from 6pm to midnight every day.

  • Papyrus HOPELINEUK

    Confidential support for under-35s at risk of suicide and others who are concerned about them. Open daily from 9am–midnight.

  • TALKWORKS

    TALKWORKS is a free and confidential NHS Talking Therapies service, here to help adults over the age of 18 across Devon (outside Plymouth), improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

  • Narcotics Anonymous

    If you have a problem with drugs, Narcotics Anonymous are here to connect you with others in the same situation, and help you get and stay clean. Their helpline is open every day 10:00am - midnight.

Bereavement

  • If U Care, Share Foundation

    The website provides support and information to people bereaved by suicide. The Road Ahead is a free resource available on the website that is written by people bereaved by suicide, giving their perspectives of dealing with the daily impact of loss.

  • Pete’s Dragon

    Pete’s Dragons provide a bespoke service to anyone in Devon who has been affected by suicide, offering

    • Regular 8 week Grief Recovery courses which teach small and correct steps to resolve grief and say goodbye to the pain, isolation and loneliness

    • Children and family fun days designed to bring together those with a shared experience

    • Bereavement Counselling at Dragon HQ or another convenient location as required.

    • Pete’s Dragons provide a bespoke service to anyone in Devon and Torbay who has been affected by suicide: Counselling/EMDR/CBT

  • The Trussell Trust (Foodbanks)

    AgeUK Devon provide multiple services for anybody over the age of 50, including clubs and classes, home support, footcare, but also an Information & Advice line. Through this, they can provide free and confidential Welfare Benefits entitlement checks, to make sure you are receiving all the benefits which you are entitled to, and help you fill out attendance allowance forms.

  • Money Advice Service

    Money Helper is the primary government-backed service offering free guidance on money, pensions, and debt. It combines the support of the former Money Advice Service, Pensions Advisory Service, and Pension Wise, providing online resources, calculators, and phone support for budgeting, debt management, and pension planning.
